About Alf Studios
Alf Studios is a world-renowned, family-founded violin-making atelier led by Gregg T. Alf, one of the most respected contemporary luthiers of our time. With over 50 years of experience, Alf Studios is known for crafting exceptional instruments for leading soloists, chamber musicians, and collectors around the world. We are a small, values-led business built on long-term relationships, artistic excellence, and deep trust with our clients. As we enter a new phase of growth and international focus, we are looking for a senior sales and partnerships leader to become a cornerstone of our future.
The Role
This is a pivotal, high-trust role at the heart of Alf Studios. As Head of Sales & Client Relationships, you will be responsible for leading all client-facing activity across the business — from first contact to long-term aftercare — while shaping and executing our global sales strategy.
You will act as the primary bridge between the workshop and the world: musicians, collectors, institutions, partners, and sponsors. Relationships are everything in this business, and you will be entrusted with stewarding them thoughtfully, professionally, and with care.
This role combines sales leadership, relationship management, brand representation, and strategic thinking. It offers significant autonomy and the opportunity to grow into the long-term head of the sales function as the business evolves.
Key Responsibilities
Client & Sales Leadership
Serve as the primary point of contact for musicians, collectors, and partners
Manage the full client journey: introductions, trials, commissions, sales, and aftercare
Build and maintain long-term relationships based on trust and mutual respect
Represent Alf Studios with warmth, professionalism, and confidence in all settings
Strategy & Growth
Lead and refine the studio’s global sales strategy
Identify and develop partnerships with musicians, ensembles, institutions, and sponsors
Help shape pricing, positioning, and long-term client strategy in collaboration with leadership
Marketing & Presence
Oversee and execute social media and marketing efforts (Instagram, content planning, outreach)
Help define and express the personality-led brand of Alf Studios
Coordinate content related to travel, workshops, musicians, and instruments
Operations & Teamwork
Work closely with the workshop, operations, and administration team
Manage and organise sales pipelines, client communications, and follow-ups
Support light managerial coordination as the sales function grows
Who This Role Is For
This role is ideal for someone who:
Is highly personable, emotionally intelligent, and relationship-driven
Is comfortable working independently with significant responsibility
Enjoys travel and engaging with people across cultures and contexts
Values long-term relationships over transactional sales
Is aligned with a values-led, artisanal, family-run business
You may be:
A musician (ideally a violinist) with strong people skills
Someone with sales or client-facing experience who loves music and craftsmanship
Someone seeking a long-term, person-centric role rather than a corporate ladder
As we have a strong and growing presence in Asian markets, Mandarin language skills and familiarity with Asian cultural and business contexts are a meaningful advantage, though not essential.
Practical Details
Full-time, hybrid role based in London
Frequent travel in the UK and internationally
Competitive base salary £3,000–£4,500/month depending on experience, plus commission (est. ~30–50% on top of base salary)
Long-term growth path into core managerial role within the business.
Visa sponsorship may be available for a very aligned candidate
Our Values
Alf Studios is a family business in the fullest sense of the word. Working with us means entering into a long-term relationship built on trust, care, and shared responsibility. We value craftsmanship not only in the instruments we make, but in how we work together — with clarity, integrity, and respect for one another’s humanity. We aim to create an environment that is emotionally healthy, communicative, and intentional, where people are supported to grow both professionally and personally. Our work is rooted in music, contemplation, and long-term thinking rather than speed or extraction, and we believe that the quality of what we create is inseparable from the quality of the relationships behind it. Those who join us don’t simply take on a role; over time, they become part of an extended family, contributing to something meaningful, enduring, and shared.
