About Alf Studios

Alf Studios is a family-run violin atelier led by Gregg T. Alf, one of the most respected living violinmakers of our time. We work with musicians, collectors, and institutions internationally, placing concert-grade violins, violas, and cellos with world-class players.

We’re now building the next era of the studio — expanding our team and strengthening our presence in the United States, one of our most important markets.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an exceptional U.S. Sales Liaison — someone deeply at home in the violin world and excited to build meaningful, long-term relationships with players, teachers, dealers, collectors, and institutions.

This is a high-trust, high-responsibility role. You will be our on-the-ground representative in the U.S., responsible for handling and closing incoming inquiries, strengthening our national network, and creating the kind of presence that leads to instrument placements over years (not weeks).

For the right person — especially someone who loves the violin space and wants to stay operating at a high level within it — this role offers rare stability, autonomy, and long-term growth.

Core Responsibilities

Sales & Client Relationship Management

  • Respond to and manage all incoming U.S. inquiries

  • Guide clients through the full sales process: discovery → trial → follow-up → close

  • Maintain world-class client experience, discretion, and long-term aftercare

Networking & Market Presence

  • Build and maintain relationships across the U.S. with:

    • elite players and teachers

    • collectors and patrons

    • dealers and partner shops

    • festivals, competitions, conservatories

  • Represent Alf Studios in-person at key events (where strategic)

Showings, Trials, and In-House Conversion

  • Coordinate showings and trials directly with musicians and clients

  • Keep placements as in-house as possible to reduce reliance on third-party commissions

  • Support logistics for shipping, trial structure, and follow-through

U.S. Strategy & Outreach

  • Help shape U.S. sales strategy on the ground

  • Outreach to conservatories and high-trust teacher networks

  • Support the development of satellite “hubs” for:

    • repairs and routine adjustments

    • safe trials/showings

    • localized client touchpoints

Compensation & Incentives

  • This is a performance-linked role with meaningful upside.

  • Base salary (full-time): $4,000–$5,000/month (depending on experience and fit)

  • Commission: generous commission on all U.S. instrument sales

  • Trial Phase (first step): We would ideally begin with a paid trial (small monthly retainer + generous commission) so both sides can evaluate fit before committing long-term.

Who This Role Is For

You may be a strong fit if you are:

  • deeply connected to (and in love with) the violin world

  • naturally relationship-led: warm, presentable, socially intelligent

  • able to close sales through trust, taste, and follow-through (not pressure)

  • independent, organised, and consistent over time

  • comfortable working directly with high-level clients and sensitive dynamics

  • excited to travel and build a national network

  • ideally a violinist / violist / cellist (bonus, not required)

  • looking for a long-term home to grow with a rare, values-led atelier

  • Location Preference: We’re especially interested in candidates based in the Midwest, with strong roots and mobility across East + West Coast networks.
